Samantha Stollenwerck is a recording artist & songwriter from California. Her brand of soulful pop music, coined “Cali Soul” by her fans, landed her on bills with the likes of Dave Matthews Band & Ziggy Marley & on stages such as Bonnaroo & Austin City Limits Music Festival. Through grassroots touring & a DIY spirit, Samantha helped pave the way for independent singer-songwriters and female artists during the pre-streaming music era.
Samantha formed her first band in college at U.C. Berkeley, gaining a loyal fanbase & support of San Francisco’s KFOG radio and performing at venues such as the Fillmore & Shoreline Amphitheater. Touring extensively over the past decade playing across the U.S., festivals, South by Southwest, Super Bowl XIV & internationally.
Samantha’s last stateside album titled “Carefree” was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jeff Trott, best known for his work with Sheryl Crow, having penned several of Crow’s hit songs such as “Everyday is a Winding Road” & “If It Makes You Happy.” She also collaborated with songwriter Danielle Brisebois who is accredited with several hit songs including Natasha Bedingfield’s singles, “Unwritten” and “Pocket Full of Sunshine”, and rounded out her record by bringing in Grammy Award-winning mixer, Manny Marroquin (Alicia Keyes, Usher, Kanye West).
Her songs have been featured on TV shows such as One Tree Hill & has found a niche writing music for film, brands & causes: HBO Documentaries, Patagonia Music Collective & L*Space Swimwear are a few to name. She has collaborated in the studio with artists Mark Foster (Foster the People), Bernie Worell (Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads) & is a member of Tallboys, an LA-based group comprised of the talent behind artists such as Alanis Morrissette, Pink, Stevie Nicks, Jellyfish & Madonna.
Today, she extends her repertoire into other areas of life: a mother, writer and activist, she has traveled through almost 100 countries with her photographer husband, often bringing their two children along. She is an ambassador of Musicians Without Borders, bringing music into conflict zones to help heal the effects of war, and passionate supporter of environmental policy and maternal health across the globe. She has partnered with organizations such as Surfrider, Patagonia & Every Mother Counts & continue to evolve and grow this work.
Look out for her new platform bridging sustainability and family travel in 2021.
